Product Notes

Chanin Wine Co.'s Sanford & Benedict Pinot Noir is a premium Californian wine finely crafted from grapes grown in the iconic Sanford & Benedict vineyard. This sophisticated red emits ripe cherry aromas followed by earthy undertones. On the palate, it delights with luxurious dark fruit flavours, elegantly supplemented with subtle spices. Cherished for its well-balanced acidity and gentle finish, this Pinot Noir is a testament to Chanin Wine Co.'s commitment to quality wines with a sense of place. This well-curated concoction is sure to captivate fans of full-bodied and complex reds, making it a quintessential wine for cherished occasions.

Tasting Notes

It has a wonderful nose of ripe red and black currants as well as subtle woodsmoke, dried herbs, and forest floor. This carries to a pure, medium-bodied, balanced Pinot Noir with ripe tannins, nicely integrated acidity, and a great finish. It opens up nicely with time in the glass and will no doubt benefit from another year or two of bottle age

About the Winery

Chanin Wine Co.

Named after its pioneer, Gavin Chanin, Chanin Wine Co. stands as a testament to the delicate marriage of art and winemaking. Situated in the heart of Santa Barbara County in California, this winery boasts remarkable craft, fervent passion, and traditional grape cultivation techniques.

Chanin champions the use of vineyards grown on Santa Barbara County's steep hillsides. Each vineyard is thoughtfully chosen, highlighting the inherently complex and distinctive character of each site. The meticulous selection of grapes ensures that each bottle encapsulates the unique combination of soil, climate and vine that characterize this region - a quality sought after by wine enthusiasts worldwide.

One of the elements that sets Chanin Wine Co. apart from its contemporaries is its commitment to the Burgundian style of winemaking. Gavin Chanin spent several years working with noted winemakers in Burgundy, and through this experience, came to appreciate the traditional French winemaking processes. Upon his return to California, he incorporated these techniques into his own wine production, emphasising the importance of minimal intervention to allow the natural characteristics of the fruit to shine through.

The other remarkable aspect of this winery is the seamless blend of art and winemaking. Chanin's wines are not only packaged with labels drawn by Gavin himself, but each vintage also sees the release of limited-edition prints available for collectors. This meticulous attention to detail extends to the hand-labelled and hand-bottled craftsmanship, earning Chanin Wine Co. a reputation for its dedication to authenticity.

Few wineries encapsulate the intersection of passion, toil and artistry quite like Chanin Wine Co. does, With every bottle unfurling a cornucopia of diverse flavours, it offers a wine experience like no other. A visit is an immersion into the sensorial, unveiling the rich tapestry of Gavin Chanin's vision, the elaborate passion of its craft, and the profound taste of its wines.
