Tasting Notes

Fruit cake plus a mixture of dried fruits, plums, mince pie, cocoa dust, vanilla and prunes. Secondary aromas of leather, tobacco, cigar, pipe tobacco and charcoal counter the dense cherry-cola fruit purity. Serious and layered with elements of fynbos to add lift to a firm palate with a long and delicious finish. It is powerful, full-bodied, classic, dry and long ending

Ernie Els

Ernie Els Wines is a beautiful wine farm situated in the heart of the Helderberg Mountain in Stellenbosch, South Africa. The winery is the brainchild of golfing legend Ernie Els, a man who loves golf as much as he loves wine. His dream of having a wine farm took flight in 1999 and today it’s a testament to his hard work.

The winery is proud of its range of wines, each one unique but all with an orchestra of flavours. The farm’s terroir is perfect for growing a variety of grapes and that in turn allows for the production of wines that are as different as they are delicious. The wines are the result of a dedicated and meticulous team.

As you enter the beautiful terra-cotta building that houses the winery, you’re immediately hit with the aroma of ripe fruit and you know you’re in for a treat. The building is elegant and charming, just like the man himself.

Visitors get more than just a wine tasting at Ernie Els Wines. The modern yet cosy tasting room has stunning views of the vineyards and mountains. A fine dining restaurant serving gourmet food paired with the estate’s award winning wines, courtesy of the chef’s culinary skills.
