Product Notes

Goats do Roam White wine is a charismatic and refreshing South African blend. Made predominantly from Viognier, it exhibits a harmonious balance of fruity and floral nuances. Aromatic white flower and apricot notes linger on the nose, while its palate presents vibrant citrus and pear flavours, with an underlying hint of ginger spice. The finish is satisfyingly crisp, making it an ideal partner for light salads or seafood fare. The artwork-adorned bottle reflects its offbeat origin, lovingly crafted by the passionate winemakers from the renowned Fairview estate. It's a wine that promises an enjoyable drinking experience.

Tasting Notes

Vibrant pale lemon in colour, this wine has Granny Smith apple, peach and floral aromas. The palate is crisp with stone fruit and citrus flavours balanced by the refreshing acidity

About the Winery

Goats do Roam

Goats do Roam winery, nestled in the heart of South Africa's wineland, is a distinguished winery with an amusing backstory and a fruitful heritage. The creative brainchild of Charles Back, a winemaker with a strong entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for innovation, Goats do Roam blends humour and philosophy, with delicious wine to captivate the taste buds.

The winery is named after a band of goats which belonged to Back's farm, Fairview. After their escape, they roamed the vineyards, munching on whichever grapes they fancied. This unconventional goat-led selection process inspired Back in creating a series of blended wines, uniquely named 'Goats do Roam', paying homage to the persistent grape connoisseurs.

Renowned as one of the top wineries in South Africa, Goats do Roam creates its signature blend from grape varietals sourced from different regions, including Shiraz, Cinsault and Carignan. This authentic blend of heritage and modernity results in world-class wines with an adventurous twist, so they are more than welcome at any gathering.

Maintaining an environmentally friendly production process and sustaining a symbiotic relationship with nature is central to the philosophy of Goats do Roam, having implemented sustainable farming methods since it's inception. Charles Back’s avant-garde approach to wine making has not only brought him recognition but also contributed significantly to the sustainability of the surrounding community and environment.

Don't be fooled by the playful name, Goats do Roam winery is serious about its mission to create unique, premium wines that captivate the pallet and allow you to relish in the joy of relaxed, convivial indulgence, 'goat-style'. Enjoy a glass of Goats do Roam and let your tastebuds wander through the fruits of a perfect blend, crafted with the discernment of winemaker and goat alike.
