Product Notes

Ktima Gerovassiliou Viognier Epanomi is an exquisite Greek wine hailing from the Epanomi region. Showcasing a bright, golden-yellow colour, this wine radiates rich aromas of apricot, apple, pear and citrus fruits, harmoniously combining with spices and fragrant hints of flowers. Its opulence on the palate is deftly balanced by refreshing acidity, culminating in a gorgeously long finish. Crafted from the Viognier varietal grown in Gerovassiliou's own vineyards, this wine's essence encapsulates the Mediterranean's climate and the area's terroir. Ideal as an accompaniment for rich seafood dishes or enjoyed as an aperitif. Truly a testament to Greek winemaking prowess.

Tasting Notes

Benchmark Viognier with expressive aromas of exotic fruits, peach and pear combined with delicate hints of jasmine. Perfumed and elegant with a subtle smoky accent on the wonderfully long finish.

About the Winery

Ktima Gerovassiliou

Located in Epanomi, a unique viticulture area on the outskirts of Thessaloniki, Greece, is the notable Ktima Gerovassiliou winery. This highly-acclaimed wine estate is steeped in heritage; the Gerovassiliou family line has been invigorated by its passion for great wines and strong dedication to the vine and its fruit, spanning several generations.

Over recent years, Ktima Gerovassiliou has seen a steady increase in their prominence and reputation within the global wine community. The main reason for this elevated recognition, is their pursuance of excellence in wine-making, which they achieve by combining traditional Greek wine-making techniques with innovative viticulture practices. They are also famed for their painstaking focus on the cultivation of unique local grape varieties such as Malagousia and Assyrtiko. A turning point for the vineyard occurred when the family decided to rescue the Malagousia variety from extinction, a white aromatic varietal said to have been Sir Gerovassiliou's favourite.

Apart from offering a diverse selection of wines, the estate is also home to a wine museum where visitors can view a comprehensive range of tools dating back to the 18th century, used for traditional viticulture, along with the exciting possibility of guided tours. At the Gerovassiliou Restaurant, guests are treated to exceptional contemporary Mediterranean cuisine, which blends perfectly with the winery’s rich collection of wines.

The Gerovassiliou wines are highly-regarded for their unique taste profile, long finish and local charm. Ranging from crisp, fragrant whites to full, robust reds, and not forgetting their range of exquisite dessert wines the winery offers a blend for every taste and mood. This high-standard wine selection, has solidified Ktima Gerovassiliou as a major player in the Greek and international wine industry. With each sip, you can experience their unrelenting pursuit for quality and perfection, that's what makes Ktima Gerovassiliou, a truly impressive winery.
