Product Notes

Grgich Hills Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is an elegant, full-bodied wine with enticing notes of dark fruit and a fine tannin structure. Crafted from organically grown grapes in Napa Valley, California, each sip reveals flavours of ripe blackcurrants, blackberries and a hint of cedar. This estate-bottled red wine is expertly balanced with measured acidity, demonstrating both a complexity and a certain restraint. The long, velvety finish is a testament to ageing in French oak barrels. Perfect with roast beef or sharp cheddar, Grgich Hills Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is a testament to the winemaking craft.

Tasting Notes

This luscious Cabernet exhibits inviting aromas of dark red fruit, blood orange and fresh plum on the nose, with undertones of rose petals, cinnamon bun, and gingerbread. Flavours of dark fruit, black olives and blackberries, are followed by hints of moss and savoury dried herbs. This age-worthy Cabernet has great density and length, and is complex yet nimble on the back palate with a long, balanced aftertaste.

About the Winery

Grgich Hills Estate

Nestled in the verdant heart of California's famous Napa Valley, sits the exquisite Grgich Hills Estate winery. Established by the acclaimed wine connoisseur Miljenko "Mike" Grgich alongside Austin Hills in 1977, the estate's reputation has grown symbiotically with the area's wide-ranging accolades in wine production.

Spanning across five distinctive vineyards, the estate is renowned for its organic and biodynamic cultivation of grapes, delivering a natural taste that champions the vintner’s commitment towards environmental sustainability. Each vineyard, benefitting from Napa Valley's excellent geological and climatic conditions, lends a unique character to Grgich Hills' wines that is impossible to replicate elsewhere.

Undoubtedly, Grgich Hills is best known for its exceptional Chardonnay, whose debut vintage famously triumphed at the historic "Paris Tasting" of 1976. This blind tasting, which pit Californian wines against their French counterparts, saw Grgich's Chardonnay declared the winner, reframing the world's perception of New World wines. The winery also produces a range of other varietals, each embodying Mike Grgich’s wine philosophy rooted in balancing power with elegance.

Come experience Grgich Hills’ wines amidst the visual spectacle of lush vine rows bristling with ripened grapes, set against the enchanting backdrop of rolling hills. The engaging and informative tours allow visitors to learn about the intricate art of winemaking, from tending the vines to the finishes touches in the cellar. Indeed, a visit to Grgich Hills is an immersion in Californian viticulture at its best, wrapped in the hospitality and warmth of it’s hardworking staff.

Grgich Hills Estate is testament to the fact that the hands that mould the wine and the land it sprouts from, are equally significant in creating a world-class wine.
