About the Winery

Michele Satta

Founded in 1983, Michele Satta is renowned as one of the exceptional wineries along Tuscany's beautiful coastline - the Bolgheri wine region. Nestled amid the rolling hills and rustic Tuscan landscape, the winery opens up a world of heavenly viniferous experiences.

Michele Satta himself, a pioneer and visionary, was part of the initial group of winemakers that championed Bolgheri and turned it into what is now considered one of Italy's prime wine-making regions. Proclaiming that “wine is the poetry of the earth to the heavens”, Michele has integrated an artistic appreciation into his viticulture that's as nuanced as the wines he produces. From hand-picking grapes to ensuring minimal intervention in the winemaking procedure, every measure rings true to his ethos: respect for the terroir and the authenticity of the wine making process.

The estate spreads over 30 hectares of vineyards, cultivating both traditional Bordeaux varietals like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah, alongside Italian stalwarts like Sangiovese and Vermentino; the winery’s output is a noteworthy fusion of Tuscan tradition and French winemaking stylings.

Today, Michele Satta boasts a portfolio of superior wines each with distinct flavour profiles and deep, complex notes. Their signature Bolgherri Rosso, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese, manages to capture the magic of Bolgheri in each sip, while their dessert wine, called Bolgheri Bianco, laces the tongue with sweet, aromatic hints.

However, what truly sets Michele Satta apart as a distinguished winery is their unabated commitment to quality and authenticity in each bottle. Every vintage, from their full-bodied profound reds to their light crisp whites, is testament to Michele Satta’s philosophy: letting the terroir speak through the wine. Savouring a Michele Satta wine is an immersive journey into the heart of Tuscany, a celebration of tradition, culture, and the timeless story behind every vine.

Michele Satta continues to charm connoisseurs and casual wine lovers with his wines, securing his place in the rich history of Italian wines.
