About the Winery

Riversdale Estate is a family-owned property located in the heart of the Coal River Valley. The soils and climate at Riversdale have allowed generations to cultivate refined & expressive produce since 1824. The wines & produce made over the last 30 years are no exception and are reflective of the unique growing conditions on which Riversdale is situated. Riversdale is not a 'brand', it is a real place where excellence is sought in the produce it cultivates.

Vineyard

Our Estate located in the basin of the Coal River Valley. Riversdale is the only vineyard to front Pittwater which is a main component of the micro-climate at Riversdale. As a result from being adjacent to Pittwater, at some point in time the property was underwater, causing many differing soil profiles, nutrient deposits & mineral trace elements around the property. Examples of this include seabed rocks & stone discovered 1km from the water at depths of 1-2 metres. Vines were first planted in 1991 making the Estate one of the oldest in the Coal River Valley.

Viticulturally, our practices follow sustainable methods of cultivation as we endeavour to showcase & uncover the purest expression of Riversdale & her produce. Our produce has been recognised both Nationally & Internationally claiming over 40 trophies & 60 gold medals. Every single drop is 100% grown & bottled onsite.

Farm

Riversdale has long been a traditional farming property with acreage suitable for broad acre farming and running livestock. Currently the Estate runs 350 Border-Leister & 100 Merino sheep. Consequently, farming paddocks are sown with grazing crops to provide food sources year-round. The majority of the lambs are used in our Bistro and local Pubs including The Richmond Arms & Crown Inn.
