Product Notes

A magnificently crafted Italian delight, Roagna Barbaresco Pajè wine intrigues the senses with its finely blended characteristics. The deep ruby hue hints at the intensity of the flavours concealed within. Possessing utmost complexity, this wine teases the palate with engaging notes of cherries, plums, licorice, and truffles. A delicate sage undertone harmoniously marries with the prominent, mature fruitiness and adds an unexpected twist. Fermented and aged in oak barrels, it inherits a grounding earthiness and subtle woodiness that contributes to a lengthy, harmonious finish. The wine exhibits a remarkable balance between the tannins and acidity, rendering it an authentic masterpiece.

Tasting Notes

Stunningly elegant. This floats seamlessly across the palate. Beautiful and driven. Such persistence and elegant intensity. Small tight packed, fresh red alpine berry flavours mixed with a mouthwatering sapidity and minerality. Long, focused and haunting

About the Winery

Roagna

Roagna winery is an exceptional family-owned vineyard steeped in tradition while simultaneously embracing innovation. Located in the renowned Italian region of Piedmont’s Barbaresco and Barolo, the winery is famed for its exquisite Nebbiolo-based wines that speak volumes of the rich terroir it hails from.

Dating back to the 1800s, Roagna’s long history centres on the commitment to producing only the finest quality wines. The vineyard comprises 12 hectares of land, carefully cultivated with ancestral respect for the environment. Every aspect of Roagna winery’s cultivation process reinforces their deeply held belief in ‘non-interventionistic’ winemaking, reflecting a strong commitment to organic practices.

The winery is known to age their wines using traditional long maceration. This allows the wines to develop a wonderful complexity in taste profile and a remarkable ability for long ageing. Some of these elegant Roagna bottles; from rich and robust Barolo to complex and rounded Barbaresco, can be savoured and appreciated for many decades.

Roagna’s winemaking process is a harmonious blend of ancient tradition and modern science, leveraging the principles of biodynamics to ensure the sustainability of the land. To them, wine is an expression of the land’s character and a careful reflection of the year’s climate. Their rigorous adherence to this process results in wines that are applauded for their deep aromatic complexity and finely wound tannins.

Even though Roagna wines are somewhat exclusive in their availability, they are highly worth seeking out for any discerning wine lover. Their intricate layers of flavour and firm structure make them the perfect accompaniment to hearty Italian cuisine, and they offer an ideal choice for those looking to cellar wines for future enjoyment,

Nevertheless, their dedication to craft is palpable in each sip. From the lusty warmth of their Langhe Rosso to the powerful elegance of the Barolo Pira, Roagna winery embodies a timeless legacy of viniculture. Their wines not only impress the palate but, also, communicate the story of their craft through every glass.
