Product Notes
Bodega Alegre Valgañón Carra Santo Domingo wine, hailing from Spain's illustrious Rioja region, certainly impresses with its robust depth of flavour. This red is a delightful melange of Tempranillo and Garnacha grapes, aged expertly in French oak barrels. It caters to connoisseurs with a bouquet of ripe black fruits, gentle smoky undertones, and hints of fragrant Mediterranean herbs. The palate is pleasantly spice-laden with well-structured tannins and an elegantly long finish. A fine testament to the art of Spanish viticulture, this wine is a true gastronomic experience. Ideal when shared amongst friends on a cosy evening.
Tasting Notes
Carra Santo Domingo comes from three terraces that were planted in 1920 in Fonzaleche and used to produce rosé, or clarete, wines. Based on Tempranillo and Garnacha, with a sizeable proportion of white grapes, this is a pale, sculpted, refined red with lovely focus and balance, redcurrant acidity, savoury tannins and subtle raspberry and pomegranate fruit. - Tim Atkin
