It is characterised by an inviting bouquet of cherries and blackberries, embraced by a pleasantly sweet but balanced backbone. This medium-bodied wine boasts an impressive, velvety texture and is a delightfully versatile option for any occasion. Villa Wolf's Dornfelder is best served slightly chilled, enhancing the fruit-forward palate and gentle tannins, making it appealing and approachable. An affordable yet luxurious choice, it pairs excellently with a variety of dishes and is a delightful introduction to German red wines.

Tasting Notes

Dornfelder is an extremely popular German red grape that is based on four classic varieties: Lemberger (aka Blaufränkisch), Portugieser, Frühburgunder and Trollinger. It produces fruity, medium-bodied wines with deep colour and good acidity. Made in a medium-sweet, fruit-forward style, its lightly floral aroma and plush flavours of plums and cherries are well balanced by velvety tannins. It has an intense colour, lip-smacking flavour, and pairs well with a wide variety of foods.
