Product Notes

The Waterford Estate Old Vine Project Chenin Blanc is a South African wine that demonstrates exceptional elegance and complexity. Renowned for its crisp acidity, it reveals layers of ripe apple, peach, and tropical fruit. The meticulous nurturing of old vines ensures an impressive concentration of flavours. Its ornate palate reflects a natural balance between sweet honey nuances and vibrant acidity, along with subtle oak hints. This Chenin Blanc is perfect for unlocking various food pairing potentials. A standout vintage, it continues to embody Waterford Estate's dedication to produce top-quality, expressive wines. Truly a testament to the depth and diversity of South African winemaking.

Tasting Notes

From vines planted in 1966, Waterford's Chenin Blanc carries the Certified Heritage Vineyards seal of South Africa's Old Vine Project. The colour has a lovely soft yellow/green hue. The main aromas are white pear and pithy grapefruit, followed by elements of peach pip, light honeycomb and soft floral notes. The mouth-feel is layered and smooth but holds a tremendous amount of mineral flavour and depth. The concrete egg fermentation drives purity and minerality which creates a lovely fresh and soft “sweet fruit” finish, on the palate.
